After beating Woking on Tuesday, I am sure Boro are raring to go. The game on Tuesday was not easy to say the least. It was a bit like the FGR first half last weekend. Woking got at us and tried to stop us playing our football.
All we needed were a few chances and I believed we could score. Drury was working hard again, and Mitchell shook the defence a few times.
It wasn’t to be Morison’s day as he failed to score again, but this time Lee picked up the pieces, and deservedly so. He was running his socks off on Tuesday, and after a bit of brilliance and a cracking ball from Drury, Boylan was put into the box and slotted the ball home.
It was a great piece of play, and I am sure the goal will give Lee some extra confidence going into the game tomorrow against Altrincham.
It was however, a bit annoying to see Ronnie and Murphy both go off with injuries. Ronnie is expected to be out for about a week, and I am not sure about Murphy yet. But I assume they will both be out tomorrow.
Vincenti did come on again though, and he gave his all once again. I will be pleased if he features again tomorrow, and he has really shown everyone that he wants to be a part of this team and has fought for his shirt.
So a look at tomorrow. It is not going to be easy against Alty. But I have all confidence we can win. You may have a few dud games but the way we are playing, and the belief that the players have, I think we can continue our winning streak.
We have drawn Ebbsfleet in the FA Trophy semi’s, so that is also something to think about in the coming weeks. I hope to go to both legs, and I am sure with it only being about an hours drive other fans may also think about travelling to Kent.
Let’s just hope we keep winning, and I don’t want to be too previous, but we could go to Wembley… TWICE!

Oh and before i get moaned at for missing this, well done to the Boro boys who played in the Herts Senior Cup this week. It was great for them to get a win, and go into a final for themselves. Another trophy will surely show how far this club has grown. Now we just have to beat Cheshunt to be crowned champions!!
Boro have drawn either Ebbsfleet or Wrexham in the next round of the FAT.
We are due to play the first leg at home on 14th March and the second leg away at on the 21st.
In a way I am pleased we have drawn them. Because it gives us two chances at the game. I don't know how I would have felt if we had Wrexham in the final. Mind you they have to get through against Ebbsfleet first. That match is being replayed tomorrow night. Hopefully Ebbsfleet win as I think we have more of a chance against them.
Fingers crossed!
There was another great win for Boro on Saturday. We beat Forest Green 4-0 to go through to the semi finals in the FA Trophy.
If I am honest, the first half wasn't really great. FGR had quite a few chances and we didn't seem quite with it. Somehow though, we got the first goal, and what an absolute corker at that.
Mitchell makes a daring run and is fouled. Drury shapes up on the edge of the area and hits it. The ball swerves around the wall and into the top corner. It was Beckham-esq!
The lads were resilient for the rest of the half with a few chances for each team.
The second half was a completely different match. It was as if GW had switched a switch and the lads played to their full potential. They were excellent. They chased down balls, looked hungry for the ball, worked well together, and looked comfortable.
Our second goal came from Bridges. Morison put the ball into the middle, and Bridges got his head to it and sent the ball into the back of the net. Boro were now looking comfortable, and Morison had quite a few chances as well. It just didn't look like his day.
Even Mark Roberts got on the score-sheet following another header. I was really pleased to see him get his goal. He works extremely hard for Boro and everyone was made up for him. Nearly all the players came over and gave him a pat on the back.
Morison did eventually get on the score-sheet. Boylan passed the ball across, and he took his time, composed himself and then put it in the back of the net. His goal celebration was just as good as he and Bridges pretended to be in a boxing ring. I particularly liked Morison's upper cut on Bridges. He head flew right back, and it looked quite effective.
We looked really comfortable and could have had more towards the end. The lads were excellent in the second half, and showed their belief that they can stay patient and still go out and win the game.
I was really proud of them, and now we just have to wait for the draw this morning.
Hopefully we could be on the way to another cracking Wembley day.
Boro beat Weymouth 3-0 on Saturday. It was a game that seemed to take forever to arrive. The weather conditions have pushed back our games and finally the lads managed to get one under their belt at the weekend.
Back true to form, if slightly rusty, Boro netted 3 goals to get 3 points. We were excellent in the first half. Weymouth did have their chances but we dominated.
Drury was the first player to get on the score sheet just before half time.
In the second half, Boro came a bit more under pressure and Chris Day had to make some great saves.
But Boro were resilient and after a spell of worrying about Weymouth, Boro scored 2 goals in 2 minutes to seal the deal. The first one came from Morison, who has now scored 20 goals in the league, and the second from the hardworking Bostwick.
It was a great result for Boro, as we now continue to put pressure on the teams around us. To score three goals after quite a lengthy break, is really quite something.
Hope we will push on at the weekend against FGR, and get another win, to make sure we get through to the next round of the trophy.
Today's the day where we find out if our match against Forest Green is on.
It was called off at the weekend due to the freezing snow conditions, and I thought we would be ok for today. But once again the snow has come into play. We had a bit of snow last night, and I think it could be cleared BUT with our latest draining problems I just don't know if the pitch is going to be playable or not.
I don't know when these games are called off or on but I hope they don't leave it too late. But at the same time, the inspectors may want to leave it until the last minute so they can get a fairer look at it.
If we do play today, here are a few little pointers to take note on.
- Forest Green are currently 22nd in the league - But despite their league position, they were dangerous last year and we should be wary of them.
- We are fourth (yay!!) So we should beat them (hopefully)
- If we win, we could go second.
- If we draw we would still move up to third.
- If we lose, then we won't move but the teams behind us have a few games in hand over us.
- If we do play it would give us a great chance to suss them out a bit before our Trophy match against them.
Whether it will go ahead or not is still another question, but one thing is for sure that if we win, it is certainly going to put even more pressure on the teams who still have games in hand.
Come on the Boro!
Sorry for the delay in posting this up, I have been extremely busy with various snow galleries and what not for the web. But believe me my enthusiasm for Boro at the moment hasn’t diminished in the slightest!
Saturday was great. I did have an inkling that we would have a shot at winning the game. We are on great form at the moment and the lads really believe they can win every game. But I never thought we would win as convincingly as we did and with as many goals as we did!
I wasn’t sure if Burton were going to put out their best squad or not, but to be honest I didn’t really care as along as we won. But they did, and I think that made it all the sweeter.
My other half had watched them on tv during the week and he wasn’t overly impressed with them, and he really believed that we could beat them again at home, and so his theory proved right!
To be fair in the first half they had a fair few chances too. But we managed to go ahead and I think that was absolutely crucial. With Moro scoring first it always makes him settle down, and with him not scoring in the last few days I am sure that gave him a little boost too.
Burton had a fair few chances at the end of the first half, and if I am honest, I wasn’t sure if we were going to hold out. But we did, and what a move that proved to be.
It meant Graham could install some more confidence in the lads and tell them how to maintain that lead.
We came out the better side in the second half. Boro were really pressing Burton and we were having some good chances in front of goal.
Boro’s second goal came from Mitchell Cole. To be honest he had looked a bit lost in the game, but I was pleased to see him get on the scoresheet, and he did close the defenders and keeper down quite a bit on Saturday.
Boro’s third, sealed Moro’s second. The keeper was all over the place. He came, he stopped, and then came out again. Moro didn’t hesitate and smashed it into the goal. I couldn’t believe it, 3-0 to Boro against a good Burton side.
You knew we were playing well, but this was ridiculous. Burton were having some possession but they were not doing a lot with it. We had reduced them to shooting outside the area, and we looked really comfortable in defence.
Obviously there were chances for Burton. Chances they should have taken. But we were the better team in my eyes, and we fully deserved to be winning.
The game was rounded off with a cracking strike from Bridges. You just knew he was going to shoot, and shoot he did. It went into the top corner and the keeper had no chance.
To be honest our long range efforts were a lot better than theirs. Murphy had a good few shots on goal and Moro did too. Some of theirs came close but they didn’t look like they had the passion and desire like Boro did.
It was a great performance all round, and even though it was in the trophy I am sure that this will give Boro even more confidence going into Saturday’s game against Forest Green at BROADHALL WAY.
One other note I would like to make, I know refs and linos are shall we say, of a lesser “quality” in our league, but on Saturday there were some decisions I just couldn’t master. Offsides were called and players would be milesss onside. Throw ins and freekicks, you had to move a yard back, because that really makes all the difference?! And the whistle was blown on a number of occasions where the advantage rule could have been played. Some decisions for Boro didn’t even make sense. It made the game very stop start, and I think considering how the pitch was, we didn’t need this as well.
Anyhoo, minor rant over. Yay for Boro!
