Deightons of Huntingdon

Looking for information on the Deighton Family of Huntingdon. Variously known to use the names Hodgskin/s, Hodgkin/s and Hodgkiss between the forenames and the last name. John (b. C1790) was a labourer/welldigger and married Jane. They had a large family, part of which ended up in Islington. Any news would be appreciated, family history interest only.

Hello
I have just done a search for 'Deighton Huntingdon family tree' and came across you enquiry. To reply, I had to sign up but don't know hw this site works.

I have traced part of my family tree back to John (Hodgkins) DEIGHTON (born c.1792) who had a daughter Lydia Hodgskin Deighton (b1826). She married into the Marshall family of Swavesey Cambs. from whom my grandfather Eugene Marshall is decended. Part of the Marshall family had moved to Leicester and then my grandfather moved to Warrington Lancs. where he met and married my grandmother. He was killed in the First World War.

I have a GED file of my family tree which I have posted on Ancestry.co.uk but this is out of date; the only way of updating as far as I can see and I have enquired, is to post another tree - I can 'invite' you onto this if you give me your email address (how do you do this privately?). If you can make use of a GED file, you can have a copy. I have also compiled considerable Census data on to an Excel spreadsheet which I am in the process of converting into html files to be incorporated into a (proposed) website; you are welcome to a copy of this too (the spreadsheet).

I would be grateful of any data you might have.

Hi, I know it's been a couple of years since someone has replied to this post but I am a descendant of the Deighton's who moved to Islington. The furthest I've got back is to my GGG Grandfather Riley Deighton b.1836 but I have no other information. My GG Grandmother was Ella Deighton b.1859. I would really apreciate any information,

Hi Alexandra,
I too am a descendant of the Islington Deighton's and have finally traced my family back to John Hodgskin Deighton Born 1818 and married to Sarah Philips. I'm heading to England on friday (I live in the USA) and plan to do a little research while I'm there. I'll share whatever I can when I return.

Hello, my family can be traced back to Bartholomew Deighton Born 1811 who was a Cabinet Maker and his wife Eliza, I understand Bartholomews parents were John and Elizabeth Deighton. The family originated in Huntingdon and but then the descendents move to London. Any info on family pre 1811 would be gratefully received. Not noticed any link thus far to Hodgskin tho. Hi Phyllis, looks like we are related as I have been passed a family tree which shows George moving to Canada. Georges bother John is my Great Great Grandfather.
