Smith & Williamson is a leading accountancy, financial advisory and investment management firm, with over 1,300 people operating from ten offices around the UK.
Our North London (Whetstone) office was established in April 1999 when Smith & Williamson acquired Hereward Phillips, a local accountancy firm with a 70-year history of working with clients in North London and Hertfordshire. Since then the office has grown rapidly and now has nine directors and close to 100 staff members.
We aim to provide the best possible service to our clients by getting to know them and understanding their objectives. We deliver imaginative yet pragmatic advice and solutions underpinned by the highest standards of service and director-led, client relationships. We place considerable emphasis on the quality of our people and aim to use the most appropriate personnel for each piece of work we do.
Our directors and staff come from a variety of financial and business backgrounds. This blend of experience and skills is combined for the benefit of our clients and, together with professional training for our staff, ensures they receive quality advice.
Our North London office offers an unusually wide range of services, which we deliver through the specialist disciplines described below. Our directors and staff work closely with their colleagues in other disciplines where this is of value to clients.
Our services
Assurance and business services - our core services are audit and assurance work, but we also provide transaction-based support and due diligence.
Corporate finance - our services include strategic financial advice, business planning, business valuations, debt and equity fundraising, MBOs and MBIs, stock exchange listings and AIM admissions, corporate reorganisations, mergers, acquisitions and disposals.
Corporate tax - we provide tax compliance and consultancy services covering corporation tax, VAT and a range of other relevant taxes.
Forensic accounting - we have a specialist forensic accounting and litigation support group whose mix of skills enables us to provide a range of investigation, insurance and dispute resolution services.
Investment management - we provide services specifically targeted to meet the needs of each of our clients, whether they are individuals, charities or institutions. We take all investment decisions in the context of the strategy agreed with a client. In some cases, this may not be suitable, so we will seek authority from a client before dealing.
Pensions and employee benefits - we provide high-quality bespoke financial advice to individuals to help them stay on top of their finances. We also provide a consultancy service covering all aspects of company pension provision and associated risk benefits, from large company pension schemes to smaller arrangements for directors or entrepreneurs.
Restructuring and recovery - our experienced team provides turnaround, recovery and insolvency services to companies in distress. Other services include pre-lending reviews, independent business and solvency reviews, fraud investigations, advice on directors’ responsibilities, asset tracing and enforcement of personal guarantees.
