Federation of Small Businesses - Huntingdon Branch
Sponsors of the Small Business of the Year Award
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is the largest UK campaigning group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms.
Founded in 1974 by a businessman who was incensed by a new tax on small business owners, the FSB is still steaming ahead, now with over 207,000 members across the UK.
Non-profit-making and non-party political, the FSB offers assistance and support 24 hours a day, while its lobbying arm - led by its Parliamentary office in Westminster - applies pressure on MPs, Government and Whitehall, lobbies politicians in their constituencies and puts the small business viewpoint over to the media.
One of the major benefits is the 24-hour FSB legal helpline, which received over 150,000 calls last year, primarily on employment, commercial contracts, property leasing, and consumer affairs.
Among many other benefits, FSB service providers offer members unusually good merchant card terms, free business banking, an insurance advice service and many other exceptional options.
The FSB now has representatives on the Small Business Council, the body created to ensure that the small business voice is heard at the "heart" of government.
In the Huntingdonshire branch are experienced business members who voluntarily make up the Huntingdonshire FSB committee - helping members, representing small businesses in many local business committees/consultations, and organizing information and networking events.
FSB Huntingdonshire sponsors the Small Business category of the Hunts Business Awards, in tribute to the exciting benchmark achieved for any small business in reaching the finals of these awards.
FSB Beds, Cambs & Herts, of which Huntingdonshire is a part, has recently welcomed its 8,000th member.
