JOBS at four Comet country stores are at risk after it was announced today (Wednesday) that Blockbuster is set to go into administration.
The DVD and video games company has 528 shops in the UK, including outlets in Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth GC and Henlow Camp.
In total, the business, best known for its rental service, employs 4,190 staff, with an average of five jobs per store.
Administrator Deloitte said the move was a result of increased competition from rival online businesses.
Stores will trade as normal while a buyer is sought, with gift cards and credit acquired through Blockbuster’s trade-in to be honoured.

Is there any item of news that Mr N deems unworthy of comment ? I am frankly surprised that he hasn't crowbarred in a criticism of Stevenage Council in here as well.

Unlike HMV and Jessops at least customer obligations are being met. Hopefully staff will be looked after too.
