A DATA firm has moved into WGC and marked the expansion with a launch event attended by key players in the high-tech sector.
ServerChoice, based in Stevenage and sponsors of the town’s football club, and Exemplas, a company owned by University of Hertfordshire group, cut the ribbon on the data store on Thursday.
The new “SC-2” data centre for web servers focuses on the three core issues of security, reliability and performance.
Mark Boost, managing director of ServerChoice, said: “As with our existing data centre, it’s really been no-expense-spared with this new facility too.
“Everything has been built to Tier 4 standards so we can offer the maximum possible uptime for our customers.”
The WHT has been asked not to reveal where the site is for safety reasons, but we can say that it is completely enclosed with perimeter fencing, barrier entry, CCTV and round the clock security.
Adam Wood, director of projects at Exemplas, said: “We’re delighted to have key industry players working with us to help launch our latest UK Data Centre.”
“Those who have already registered for the event have expressed a lot of interest in the seminars – there’s a real buzz in the air around what these industry heavyweights have to say about the future of the IT sector.”
It is not known if any jobs will be created by the expansion.
