Rock & Roll Dreams Come True!
Music lessons can be dull and boring. You find yourself having to learn scales and endless amounts of theory before you get the chance to play the music you really want to. Well not anymore.
Strum & Drum teaches 8 – 16 year olds how to play electric guitar, bass, drums and keyboards in weekly one hour lessons at venues in St Albans, Harpenden, Barnet, Potters Bar, Hitchin and Hemel Hempstead, with scheduled to open in 2007/8.
The lessons are like a breath of fresh air. The classes are creative, social and fun and designed to build not only musical skills but also to nurture self confidence and to encourage a sense of achievement.
‘We cater for all levels and abilities, but 99% of all students join us as beginners’, says Ford Shackcloth, Strum & Drums’ founder.
‘Students work at their own pace from our simple and uncomplicated courses and we have everyone jamming in their very own rock band by the end of their first lesson’.
Classes are run evenings and weekends to avoid clashing with school commitments and all instruments are provided so parents can make the ‘five minute wonder’ assessment before going to the expense of buying their own.
‘Whatever your motivation, it’s the jamming session at the end of each lesson that makes all the hard work and practice worthwhile’, says Ford.
‘The 15 minute jam gives the whole class the chance to join in, whatever their level, with a classic rock song, and for a few minutes all students get just a taste of what it’s like to be a real rock star’.
